Our little extras...
For the ladies... If you would like a little pampering during your stay, Daphne has 40 years experience in Beauty Treatments and offers a range of services.
For the lads... If they can pull themselves away from the sun-lounger and the bottle of beer, John will be glad to introduce them to the Boules pitch.
The surrounding area...
Corpe. Our village is typically French, with an excellent bakery for fresh bread and croissants and a friendly bar where you can relax over a glass of wine or cup of coffee. The area is famous for melons, which John and Daphne serve at breakfast during the season. Many of the fields around the village are ablaze with sunflowers in summer and you can stroll the country lanes and soak up the peace and quiet of ‘real’ France.
Mareuil sur Lay. this little town is at just 3km and is a delightfully picturesque neighbour. The river Lay meanders its way through the town offering fishing and boating, or simply enjoy the peace and shade along the river banks, by bike or on foot. Perched above the village is the impressive church, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. There are numerous bistros and bars for eating out ‘ en-famille’ and for wine-lovers there is a clearly marked Vineyard Trail taking you around the local producers.
Luçon The town of Luçon is only 4km away where you will find great restaurants, shops and boutiques (girls, believe me you can experience ‘retail therapy’ French style!). The restaurants and bistros cater for every pocket and palette and many are child-friendly. The imposing cathedral dominates the town centre, with it’s impressive cloisters. The gardens ‘ Dumaine’ offer a tranquil spot to relax in the town centre after the bustle of the traditional market.
